Before you submit your site for a review, it`s always best to run a little revision, just to make sure the evaluator will not have a reason to disqualify you. These pages are, of course, not a guarantee that you will win an award, but it may help you to avoid losing points, and not only in my award program!
Even though I strongly recommend to read my criteria and take the self test -- most of the Awards Programs, mine included, seek more or less the same standards and therefore studying well from one AP could help you greatly when you decide to apply for another Award. You are likely to see the same demands, like "correct use of meta tags" or "optimized images" in most of other Award Programs, -- but such terms do not mean much to a beginner webmaster. Here I included a quick guide that should help you with building the most basic meta tags. Also, I found it necessary to provide links to the most basic yet truly priceless online tools (priceless indeed, as they are all free), which will help you to make a valid (from technical point of view) code, as well as monitor and maintain the active /dead links, add features to your CSS style sheet , which you were not aware of, and make use of some original HTML colors, that are not a part of the classical, rather basic, palette.
Additionally to the more detailed tutorials, here is a list of some very useful free online tools and resources, which may help you while developing your website.
• Digital Art - free source of backgrounds, buttons, favicons and awards templates.
• Safari Browser Test - test your website online with Safari browser (Mac). You can instantly view and download a screen shot of your site.
• Cinthia Says Accessibility Check - Test your site and see if it meets the accesibility guidelines.
• Meta Tags Analizer - Check your site's loading time and analyze your keywords and meta tags relevancy to the page's content.
• Online Dead Links Checker - Put your website's home page URL a spider will read the html code and check for the broken links.
