What, actually, the symbol of glory has to do with peace? As a matter of fact, it doesn`t only signifies the glory, but also the victory. the most well-spread emblem of peace, where a bird brings a wreath in her bill, represents the bringing of victory in the peaceful way, and not through a combat. Nonetheless, the wreath, which the bird holds, is weaved from olive and not laurel branches. Just like in the Ancient Greece, the laurel and olive is often mixed. On the left: The UN emblem.

On the United Nation emblem, we can see a map of the world representing an projection centred on the North Pole, inscribed in a wreath consisting of crossed conventionalized branches of the olive treeThe current United Nations emblem was approved on 7 December 1946. Olive branches symbolize peace. The world map depicts the area of concern to the United Nations in achieving its main purpose, peace and security.

In 1918, at the end of the First World War, this laurel wreath - a sign of victory - was thrown into an open carriage where the David Lloyd George, the Prime Minister back in those days, was sitting with King George V. The carriage was driven through the cheering crowds in London following Lloyd George`s return to the country after signing the Versailles Peace Treaty.
