  No, he isn't. This is how airline security started, and we have already had one member of the government say that the "enhanced pat-downs" should be used on trains and ferries.

  The real solution to this, as with airline security, is behavior profiling. It works for law enforcement, it will work for transportation security.

  I also like to repeat the comment on the hypocrisy on this ID thing. How is this fundamentally different from having to have an "internal passport" like the good ol' Soviets had? Their excuse was "security" too.

  So there is planning to destroy bridges while trains are going over them, but because other train bombings have been by people on the train we don't have to worry? The point is that screening passengers isn't going to do as much good as it does for airplanes since anyone can attack a train on the ground. It's harder to hit something thousands of feet in the air. Sure, you can go ahead and start making a no ride list, but will it make anyone any safer? No.

  I believe the "No Ride List" and the "No Fly List" are abrogating the Fifth Amendment. A person on this list has no right or ability to know if they are on the list. They have no way to contest their inclusion on the list. There is no due process of law in this list. Anyone can be included on this list, if just one single person tells the FBI the wrong thing about you.

  Example: Your neighbor does not like you, so he calls the FBI Hotline and tells them you said you wanted to blow up a school. Eric Holder can have you placed on this list based on a single, unsubstantiated tip. You do not know it, but you have just lost the ability to board an airplane.

  Now Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) wants to deny you access to rail transport as well. All based on a single, tip. You have committed no crime, yet you are denied the ability to use mass transit. You cannot appeal your inclusion on the list. You cannot go to court and clear your name. You have NO rights when it comes to this list. How is that Constitutional?

  The Fifth Amendment states, in part "nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law". To remove freedoms, the government must allow you DUE PROCESS OF LAW, which means a trial. You MUST be convicted of a crime to have your liberty interfered with. This list completely abrogates the requirement. They take away your freedom to use basic transportation services, without the right of redress.

  There is no way to hold the government accountable for this list. The public does not know what the criteria is for people to be placed on this list. The public does not know who is on it. Basically, this is a way to strip away freedoms, without the public's knowledge.

  Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) has also introduced legislation to prevent people from purchasing firearms that are on this list. The Terror Watch List is being used to slowly strip away freedom.

  The Terrorist Watch List has already been used to take away ANY health care benefits to people effected by the World Trade Center attack on 9/11. Could this be expanded to include health care benefits under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare)? Could you eventually be denied health care because your neighbor does not like you?

  Do you really want the government to have the power to take away your freedom to board an airplane, board a train, obtain access to health care or purchase a firearm, without being able to do a single thing about it, when you have committed no crime? This list has over a million names on it now, could yours be next?

  Good Post. I am probably on the "list". I raise/own horses...a very particular breed (that the moderator keeps zapping me for mentioning). I have friends who own the same type of horses and we communicate via phone and internet about our horses...often citing them by name. Everytime I fly, have to go through "special handling", seems a number of others with these beautiful ancient bloodlines go through the same at airports. The breed is a desert bred type and moderator does not allow me to say... This is so stupid..

It was such a big uproar when Arizona wanted to bring in a law that ask for ID to be shown and all the democrats/liberals got so offended by that ruling but we innocent riders have to show ID to ride the trains... Its a double standard here.. Illegals seem to have more priviledges than lawful citizens. What is America coming to? We have to show ID and illegals are protected. Things are really upside down in this country. We are being treated like criminals where as illegals have all the rights.

  amtrak is in the red because they overextended themselves to provide a service to rural areas. in the heavily metropolitan areas (which they are proposing to enhance and improve) they actually turn a pretty fair profit

  Hmmmm. Please expand. My recollection is that a handful of runs on the eastern seaboard break even or turn a profit, but that's it. I know the run between Milwaukee and Chicago is constant loser.

  Like I said, please give specific examples. The ONLY profitable runs that I am aware of are between the NY and DC areas. I said Milwaukee and CHICAGO. We generally consider Chicago to be a major metropolitan area, with a very substantial commuter presence between the 2 cities.

  First of all, most of the capable people have already left Detroit and those remaining don't have a pot to p in or a window to throw from.

  As for clown boy Schumer, his tactic of trying to keep Al Qaeda off a is like trying to keep track of roaches after they are in the house. If this moron, and the rest of the democrats, were even a bit serious aout terrorists, they would support Arizona's immigration laws and close the borders and do their jobs of defending the laws of this country and get tough on immigration.

  Its very simple, protect the country by not letting anyone of middle eastern decent into the country until they, collectively, work out their issues. When the good guys find they can't come in, they will begin cleaning house in their own country.

  As for the Mexican border, a couple dozen A-10 Warthogs could do wonders.
